The Institute for Neurosciences of Montpellier (INM) is located in the Neuroscience (Head and Neck) hospital, close to the University Campus. It will celebrate its 10th anniversary on September 25th, 2014.
The INM houses 200 people working on vision, hearing, somatosensory wiring, and myelination. Molecular to systems level investigations are carried-out through core technical facilities, which are opened to academic and private users outside the INM. Team competences cover expertise in genetic, molecular and cellular biology, electrophysiology, computational neurosciences pre-clinical and clinical researches. Research outputs favor the development of new treatments for sensory and motor deficits, with a strong interest in inherited retinal and optic blindness, auditory neuropathies, neurodegenerative diseases (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, giant axonal neuropathy), somatosensation disorders (touch and pain) and glial pathologies (gliomas and Charcot Marie Tooth disease).
